Blue Peter ~ Thursday 12th February
Built in 1948 at Doncaster, Blue Peter is a Peppercorn Class A2 Pacific locomotive. It was designed to run express passenger services on the East Coast Mail Line.
This was a visit to Carlisle to see Blue Peter, 60532, on an outing from Crewe to Carlisle and return
Departing from London Euston at 07:00 from platform 16, with headcode 1Z32, This charter ran diesel hauled up to Crewe. With the diesel dispatched to the siding, Blue Peter took over. With a cloud of steam the locomotive emerged from the pass line between platforms 11 and 12 and copuled up to the rake on platform 12.
At 10:38, the mighty engine set forth; now with headcode 1Z86 and hauling a full rake, it headed north to Carlise.
