Severn Valley Railway Wednesday 1 June. GWR 1501 a 0-6-0 Pannier Tank, designed by Frederick Hawksworth, is the sole survivor of its class. It has just failed at Bewdley with the 14.14 sevice to Bridgenorth, and it is waiting to be rescued by the class 31 Thunderbird. Rail Live Thursday 23 June. The new Class 69 No 69005 has been re-engineered from a Class 56 by Progress Rail at Longport, Stoke on Trent. The old Ruston-Paxman RK3 Engine has been replaced with an EMD 710 12cylinder Powerplant, with updated Electronic Controls based on those used in the Class 66 locos. 69005 has been named "Eastleigh". Rail Live Thursday 23 June. Munich based Railadventure GMBH have set up a Partnership with Britain's Hansen and hall Rail Services Company, and have purchased Eight Class 43 Power Cars. They will be based out of London, which will give them direct access to the East Coast, Midland and West Coast Main Lines; along with the Southern and Great Western Railway. Nos 43480 and 43484 have already been repainted in the Company's recognisable Two-Toned Gray and GHreen Colour Scheme. (Dave Woodhead) |
